10 lead ECG leadwire with snap attachment that is compatible with your ECG device

Step 1
Inspect the Karegaroo vest to ensure that all wired connections are in place.
Inspection of Connections
Step 2
Inspection of Adaptors
Inspect the Karegaroo adaptors to ensure that the top magnets are secured to the bottom snaps.
Step 3
Trim Electrode Pads
Cut off the edges of the 10 adult sized electrode pads as needed to fit onto the neonate. Chest electrode pads may need to be smaller than limb electrode pads. An example of how they may be cut is shown.

Step 4
Place Adaptors
Take 10 of the Karegaroo magnetic adaptors and snap them onto the 10 electrode pads.

Step 5
Place Electrode Pads
Peel off the sticky back of the electrode pads with the adaptors on top and place each pad onto the baby in the correct spots, following along with the diagram.

Step 6
Snap Electrodes on Vest
Using the Karegaroo vest, the ECG machine, and the 10 electrode leads, snap the electrode leads into the correct spots on the side of the Karegaroo. See diagram for correct placement.

Step 7
Place Vest on Baby
Take the Karegaroo vest and line up each magnetized spot of the vest with the electrode pads and adaptors and gently lay the vest over the torso of the baby. Ensure that all 10 connections are intact.

Step 8
Turn on the ECG machine and record all measurements.
Record Measurements
Vest Size Guide
Measure the distance from the shoulder of the baby to their hip bone to determine the vest size. Round up in inches if needed for vest sizing.
-
Small: 24-26 weeks ~ abdomen 8-9in
-
Medium: 27-30 weeks ~ abdomen 9.7-10.5in
-
Large: 31+ weeks ~abdomen 11.3 in
Troubleshooting
-
Check connections and ensure that all of the magnets on the vest are connected to the magnets on the adaptors.
-
Check each of the electrode pad adaptors and ensure that they are fully snapped onto each pad.
-
Check electrical on each of the wires by using an ohmmeter. Put one prong on the magnet of the vest and the other prong on the corresponding snap on the side of the vest. If the ohmmeter outputs a signal, then that wire is still conducting electricity.
Maintenance
Store the vest in a flat manner to prevent magnets from sticking to one another while being stored. Do not wash the vest in between uses.
Disposal
The Neonatal Electrocardiogram Vest is intended for single patient use. Therefore, once the patient has left the hospital the vest can be thrown away after necessary use.
